Corporate Member Government Departments, Statutory Boards, Registered Charities and Institutions of a Public Character (IPC) that are registered with the Charities Unit, Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY). Refer to https://www.charities.gov.sg/Pages/Home.aspx for more information.
Document required: Documentary proof of study or research.
Commercial firms: $ 500 p.a plus GST per card.
Government Departments, Statutory Boards and Non-profit charitable welfare organisations: $300 p.a plus GST.
Personal Members Professionals and individuals who are engaged in education-related research projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Teaching staff of private tertiary institutions and students enrolled in distance-learning programmes or local private educational organisations may apply.

$300 p.a plus GST
Higher Degree Students from Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) Postgraduate students from local government funded IHLs may apply.
Document required: A letter from the Registrar’s Office, stating the full name, student’s status, and the duration of the course.
$150 p.a plus GST or based on reciprocal arrangement.
Alumni Members Open to Graduates of NIE / NTU or its affiliated institutions such as TTC (Teachers' Training College). Students who have attended external consultancy programmes at NIE may apply as Personal Members.
Document required: A copy of the Degree / Diploma awarded
$50 p.a plus GST

Please note that walk-in registration is only available from Monday - Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. Membership fee can be paid by Nets, Cashcard, Nets Flashpay or Cheque at Service point or postage, more detail will be advised in the notification.

Teacher Members Principals and teachers of government or government-aided schools, independent schools and junior colleges in Singapore that are listed on the MOE School Directory may apply.
Document required: Endorsement form
Validity: 1 year, to be renewed 1 month before expiry.
One-time Admin. charges of $20 plus GST
Full-time Teaching and Research Staff from IHLs Free membership is available to full-time teaching / research staff of government funded IHLs on a reciprocal basis.

Validity: 1 year, to be renewed 1 month before expiry.
Senior Government Officers Chief Executive Officers and directors of Government / quasi-government departments are granted loan privileges on a case-by-case basis. MOE senior officers, including curriculum specialists of CPDD, may also apply.

Validity: As determined by Head / LIBRIS based on the length of the project / requirement.
NIE Retired Academic Staff Retired full-time academic staff who have served the National Institute of Education for at least 10 continuous years prior to retiring from the Institute may apply.
Validity: 2 years, to be renewed bi-annually.

 

Validity Of Membership

  • Loan privileges will be suspended when members go on no pay/study leave.

  • Inactive membership will be purged as determined by the Library.

  • Members should inform and update the Library promptly of any change in their personal particulars and posting.

  • For breach of any of the Library Rules, fines may be imposed and library privileges suspended or withdrawn.

  • Members who resign or retire from MOE must return the NIE Library Membership Card to the Library. At the same time, they must also settle all outstanding matters/charges before leaving the service.

 

Registered Principals and Teachers attending full-time in-service courses at NIE

Teacher membership will be suspended during the period of the course as course participants will be issued student cards for loans and other library services. Upon completion of the course, their teacher membership will be restored.
